July 28, 2012 (FPRC) -- Corona, California, United States Ė Specialty Motions Inc. premier manufacturer and supplier of Linear and Mechanical Motion Components now carries many types of bearings. Whatever the job SMI can provide the right linear motion bearing it requires. Specializing in hard to find parts, SMI can custom make the correct parts needed for the job if it is not already in house.

There are many types of linear motion bearings, the most common type are the ball bearing slides, Ball slides are used in cases when smooth motion is necessary along a single-axis linear design. Self lubricaton of the bearings increases the reliability. Common use of ball bearing slides can be seen in drawer slides.

Linear motion bearings also are very specialized such as with ball splines. A ball spline provides nearly frictionless linear motion. The spline is comprised of a shaft, or nut, with the steel balls inside. The steel balls or rolling elements do not touch each other which allows for a smooth linear motion.

Located in California Specialty Motions Inc. is a complete mechanical Motion solution house serving the entire U.S. SMI is a leading manufacturer of Linear Actuators, Supported Systems, Belt Driven Actuators, Push & Pull Actuators, Miniature Linear Actuator, Table Top systems, Curviline slides and Rails, Ball Slide, and Hi-Performance Actuators.
